The U.S. Department of Labor recently issued a final rule expanding employers’ reporting requirements for activities intended to influence employees’ positions on union activities. Indirect persuader activities were previously exempt from reporting. Under the new rule, arrangements between an employer and labor consultant to persuade employees with respect to unionization, including coordination with management and crafting materials and message campaigns, must be reported. The new reporting requirements will apply to agreements entered into after July 1.

A provider webinar for hospitals participating in the Inpatient Psychiatric Facility Quality Reporting Program has been scheduled at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 7. The webinar, titled “IPFQR Program: Keys to Successful FY 2017 Reporting,” will provide a detailed description of the fiscal year 2017 IPFQR program requirements, keys to successful data submission and guidance on how to verify data accuracy. Nearly one-third of Medicare beneficiaries received at least one prescription for commonly abused opioids in 2015. Those who did received an average of five such prescriptions or refills, according to the report from the Office of Inspector General for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
