Rural Hospital Council & Critical Access Hospital Network

Rural Hospital Council

The Rural Hospital Council provides guidance on MHA’s policy development, advocacy and services to rural and critical access hospitals statewide. Established in September 2011, the council’s work focuses on building
rural policy and advocacy initiatives that have developed throughout the years. Through the council, MHA is better positioned to support strategic priorities and new services that are essential to rural providers as they
implement health care reform and adapt to the shift in health care delivery. The council conducts two in-person meetings annually — one in conjunction with MHA’s Leadership Forum in June and a second meeting
during MHA’s Convention in November. In addition, members participate in two conference calls to interact with state and national leaders and regulators about emerging rural issues.

Critical Access Hospital Network

The Critical Access Hospital Network creates a formal CAH structure that increases networking opportunities and development of shared services beyond the Missouri Hospital Association’s traditional representation and
advocacy role. Established in February 2012, the network’s primary objective is to increase CAH member satisfaction and involvement and, where applicable, meet their unique needs. The CAH Network Steering Committee is comprised of CAH members from each MHA district. The committee meets bi-monthly to provide guidance to MHA staff and establish agendas for the in-person meetings that are held in the spring and summer
in conjunction with MHA’s leadership forum, and fall and winter in conjunction with MHA’s Annual Convention.
