Gov. Nixon Creates Missouri Office Of Health Information Technology

On Wednesday, Gov. Jay Nixon issued an executive order creating the Missouri Office of Health Information Technology. MO-HITECH will promote the states’ development and application of HIT/HIE infrastructure. Ronald J. Levy, director of the Department of Social Services, will lead MO-HITECH and serve as the HIT/HIE coordinator for the state. In addition, the order creates the MO-HITECH Advisory Board. The board will provide input to the state as it develops its HIT/HIE strategic and operational plan. The MO-HITECH Advisory Board will be co-chaired by the HIT/HIE coordinator and a private member of the board to be appointed by the Governor. The advisory board also will include key private sector stakeholders, including consumers, health care providers, mental health providers, privacy advocates, health insurance providers and representatives of state government.
