Missouri's Health Care Workforce
Throughout the past three years, MHA has provided
its members with information and resources to assist in understanding
and helping create solutions to the state's health care workforce
shortages.
In an effort to more specifically identify causes
and potential solutions to the workforce shortages, MHA is producing
a series of reports to explore these issues. The first in this series
focuses on retention. It provides an overview of the challenges
facing Missouri's hospitals and identifies national and state best
practices that have proven successful in increasing retention rates.

The second in this series focuses on recruitment.
It provides an overview of the challenges facing Missouri's hospitals
and identifies national and state best practices that have proven
successful in increasing recruitment efforts. To read a copy of

This third focuses on current educational challenges
and provides results of surveys MHA conducted with Missouri health
professions students and faculty. The data in this report were collected
in mid-to-late 2003. The best practices, faculty interviews and
student perceptions were collected in late 2003 through focus groups
and open solicitation of best practices within Missouri hospitals.
