Application Criteria
To be eligible for a Nursing Bridge Grant, students must meet the following criteria.

• be a licensed practical or registered nurse in Missouri

• show evidence of acceptance to a qualified nursing program and working toward a bachelor’s or master’s degree in nursing or a doctoral degree in nursing or other appropriate field in an accredited school of nursing

• have completed six hours of course work toward a nursing degree

• show evidence of enrollment in good standing in the academic program, with such evidence provided before each subsequent semester/term of funding

• pursue a curricula that will allow graduation requirements to be fulfilled within two years of the initial scholarship payment

• complete all required application information, including references and official school transcripts, by the application deadline

• show a minimum of a 2.5 nonweighted grade point average on a 4.0 scale for the most recent two years of post-secondary educational coursework

Application Process
Applicants must provide all of the following.

• completed MHA Center for Nursing Bridge Grant Program application

• copy of current Missouri practical or registered nurse license

• resume

• transcripts from all institutions that were attended for all post-secondary education, including registered nursing programs and graduate programs

• proof of acceptance into the applicable program

• recommendation form completed by three of the following:
  • immediate supervisor or employer
  • academic advisor
  • instructor
  • co-worker
  • community organization director
  At least one reference must be from an immediate supervisor/employer, academic advisor or instructor.

NOTE: It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that all parts of the application for a Nursing Bridge Grant are completed properly and postmarked by Thursday, May 22, 2008. Failure to submit a complete application may result in the application being deemed ineligible or in a reduction of points when scored.
