Tobacco-Free Hospitals

A regulation from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services bans tobacco use throughout hospitals and their facilities. As health care leaders, the elimination of tobacco use on hospital campuses is a positive and proactive step toward improving the health of all Missourians. Implementing a smoking ban for all patients, visitors and employees on health care campuses is an ambitious goal requiring comprehensive implementation and communication strategies. MHA has published a resource guide, "Creating Tobacco-Free Hospitals," for your use. In addition, MHA has shared survey results that summarizes hospitals' experience with the regulation.
