MHA Distinguished Service:
William C. Schoenhard, FACHE

William C. Schoenhard, FACHE, executive vice president and chief operating officer of SSM Health Care in St. Louis, was awarded the MHA’s 2007 Distinguished Service Award. The Distinguished Service Award is the highest honor given by MHA. It recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to health care, Missouri hospitals and the communities they serve.




Visionary Leadership: Joseph W. Crossett

Joseph W. Crossett, administrator of Liberty Hospital, was awarded MHA’s 2007 Visionary Leadership Award for his commitment to expanding access to care and improving the health of northeast Missourians.




Visionary Leadership: James W. Wente, FACHE

James W. Wente, FACHE, president and chief executive officer of Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo., was awarded MHA’s 2007 Visionary Leadership Award for his commitment to expanding health education and offering exceptional service in Southeast Missouri. Vision for Children: Lee F. Fetter

Lee F. Fetter, president and senior executive officer of St. Louis Children’s Hospital, was awarded MHA’s 2007 Vision for Children Award. The award emphasizes the important, highly specialized care freestanding pediatric hospitals deliver to their communities, service to pediatric care and adherence to the hospital's mission, vision and values.




Vision for Children: Randall L. O’Donnell, Ph.D.

Randall L. O’Donnell, Ph.D., president and chief executive officer of Children’s Mercy Hospitals and Clinics was awarded MHA’s 2007 Vision for Children Award. The award emphasizes the important, highly specialized care freestanding pediatric hospitals deliver to their communities, service to pediatric care and adherence to the hospital's mission, vision and values.




Vision for Children: Douglas A. Ries, FACHE

Douglas A. Ries, FACHE, president and chief executive officer of SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center was awarded MHA’s 2007 Vision for Children Award. The award emphasizes the important, highly specialized care freestanding pediatric hospitals deliver to their communities, service to pediatric care and adherence to the hospital's mission, vision and values.




Health Policy Leadership:
Q. Michael Ditmore, M.D.

Q. Michael Ditmore, M.D., former director of the Missouri Department of Social Services’ Division of Medical Services, was awarded MHA’s 2007 Health Policy Leadership Award. He was recognized for his significant contribution to improved access to care through Medicaid and for his work championing innovations in chronic disease management and pharmacy to streamline services for Missouri Medicaid enrollees.




Donate Life: St. John’s Mercy Medical Center
in St. Louis

St. John’s Mercy Medical Center in St. Louis received MHA’s 2007 Donate Life Award for its efforts to increase organ and tissue donation. Hospital representatives accepting the award (pictured from left to right) are B.J. Donate Life: St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Joplin

St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Joplin, Mo., received MHA’s 2007 Donate Life Award for its efforts to increase organ and tissue donation. Distinguished Quality Professional:
Leslie W. Hall, M.D.

Lesile W. Hall, M.D., director of clinical effectiveness at University of Missouri Health Care in Columbia, Mo., was awarded the 2007 Distinguished Quality Professional Award for his efforts in continuous quality improvement and integration of quality and patient safety goals into the University of Missouri Health Care’s strategic plan. Hall, (center) is joined by Dorothy Andrae of Primaris in Columbia, Mo., and Karen Cox, M.D., quality improvement and patient safety manager at University of Missouri Health Care.




Volunteer Services Award: Sally Rundquist, R.N.

Sally Rundquist, R.N., a clinical supervisor at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center in St. Louis, was recognized with the Volunteer Services Award from the Missouri Association of Volunteer Services for her work with the hospital’s innovative Volunteer Nurse Program.




Auxilian of the Year: Owen Ransdell

Owen Ransdell, an auxilian at Hannibal Regional Hospital, was recognized with the 2007 Auxilian of the Year Award by the Missouri Association of Hospital Auxiliaries. Ransdall has been a member of the auxiliary since 1997 and has served as a member of the auxiliary board for eight of the past 10 years.




Auxiliary of the Year: University Hospitals and Clinics Service League Auxiliary

The University Hospitals and Clinics Service League Auxiliary of University of Missouri Health Care in Columbia, Mo., was honored for its exceptional efforts as an auxiliary with fewer than 60 members. Dozens of auxilians attended the ceremony to celebrate the hospital’s recognition.



Auxiliary of the Year: Missouri Southern Healthcare Auxiliary

Missouri Southern Healthcare Auxiliary in Dexter, Mo. was recognized by the Missouri Association of Hospital Auxiliaries for their outstanding work as an auxiliary with 61-150 members. Accepting the award for the auxiliary are Amy Ellinghouse, marketing director; Fannie Avertt, auxiliary president; Lillian Singleton, auxiliary treasurer; and James P. Crawford Jr., chief executive officer.



Auxiliary of the Year: St. John’s Mercy Hospital Auxiliary

St. John’s Mercy Hospital Auxiliary in Washington, Mo., earned honors for its volunteer services as an auxiliary with 151-300 members. Accepting the award were (back row, from left to right) Mary Ann DeJesus, operations manager; Dee Coppeans, manager of volunteer services; Terri McClain, president; Colleen Himmelberg, director of development; and Nancy Redhage, auxiliary president. Auxiliary of the Year: Capital Region Medical Center Partners Auxiliary

The Capitol Region Medical Center Partners Auxiliary in Jefferson City, Mo., was recognized for its exceptional efforts as an auxiliary with more than 300 members.
