JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — A dynamic lineup of national experts will share how to create a culture of responsive leadership at the Missouri Hospital Association’s 85th Annual Convention & Trade Show scheduled Nov. 7-9 at Tan-Tar-A Resort in Osage Beach, Mo.

The annual convention is a forum for more than 1,500 hospital representatives from across the state, including chief executive officers, trustees, auxilians, department directors and affiliated group members.

This year’s convention theme is “Responsive Leadership: Shared Vision, Shared Values.”

Among this year’s speakers is Kevin Carroll, a former athletic trainer for the Philadelphia 76ers, author, Nike executive and founder of The Katalyst Consultancy. His presentation, “Rediscovering Play: Bringing Fun and Passion to Your Work … and Life,” will begin at 8:45 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 8.

Best-selling author Daniel Pink’s session, “A Whole New Mind,” will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 8. He will highlight the value of unconventional thinking and reveal the six abilities necessary to master the challenges and opportunities of the modern world.

Author and former U.S. Navy Commander D. Michael Abrashoff will challenge hospital leaders to instill a climate of ownership within their organizations, focusing on the principles of purpose, performance and empowerment. Abrashoff’s “It’s Your Ship” will begin at 2:15 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8.

Businessman-turned-artist Erik Wahl will present “The Art of Vision: Discovering Your Untapped Potential” at 9 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9. He will challenge hospital leaders to achieve greater levels of performance and extraordinary organizational results through innovation and creativity.

In addition to these general sessions, the MHA convention will feature specialized programming for 16 MHA personal membership groups. The convention’s trade show will feature nearly 200 exhibitor booths demonstrating the latest health care products and services.

The Missouri Hospital Association is a not-for-profit association in Jefferson City that represents 145 Missouri hospitals.
