
Visionary Leadership Award
Today’s health care leaders recognize their responsibilities
extend beyond the patients in their hospitals to
the health of the community as a whole.
The Visionary Leadership Award recognizes health care executives whose innovative and exemplary
initiatives improve the health and clinical outcomes
of people in their communities.
Nominees must be Missouri hospital or health system chief executive officers with sustained proactive leadership in improving access and clinical outcomes for the communities and patient populations served. The accomplishments described in this application should demonstrate improved health and clinical outcomes.
CEO nominations may be based on service during previous employment. To submit a nomination, please complete the application form and enclose a written narrative of four pages or less describing improved health and clinical outcomes successfully implemented in the organization or community. Anyone may
submit a nomination.
Select the description(s) that most accurately describes the initiatives for which the individual is being nominated. The nominee’s role and accomplishments within the community and region must be included in this application.
- access to quality care within the community, including disparate populations
- improvement of patients’ clinical outcomes
- coordinated chronic disease management between the community and acute care settings
- safety outcomes for patients and the community, including disaster planning

Please show evidence of improved outcomes for the initiative described, including data results of indicators and outcomes measured throughout the initiative. Please ensure the application follows the guidelines and criteria provided. The quality of the application will affect the selection process.
Recipients of the Visionary Leadership Award
will be selected from all nominations. The MHA Board of Trustee’s chair officers, with support from MHA staff, will review all nominations. Nominations will be kept anonymous to the best extent possible.
The 2008 Visionary Leadership Award winner will be announced at MHA’s 86th Annual Convention & Trade Show scheduled Nov. 5-7 at Tan-Tar-A Resort in Osage Beach, Mo.
The recipient will receive:
- complimentary registration for MHA’s
86th Annual Convention & Trade Show
- tickets for the Nov. 6 Installation and Recognition Banquet for the recipient and as many as four guests
- presentation of the award at the Installation
and Recognition Banquet
- acknowledgment in the Installation and
Recognition Banquet program
- recognition in a news release to area and
statewide media
All nominations and materials for the 2008
Visionary Leadership Award must be postmarked
or received electronically by Friday, April 25.
