Distinguished Service Award
The MHA Distinguished Service Award, the
highest honor bestowed by the MHA, was established in 1975 to recognize
individuals whose leadership has strengthened Missouris hospitals
and improved the quality of health care throughout the state. This
award is given each year to one individual who has had an exemplary
career in health care one who has improved the health of
Missouri citizens and has set a standard by which others should
lead.
Criteria for the MHA Distinguished Service
Award includes community service, regional and national contributions,
and service to an individual hospital and the Missouri Hospital
Association. The MHA Board of Trustees selects the award recipient,
who is honored during the recognition banquet at MHAs
annual convention and trade show.
William C. Schoenhard, FACHE, executive vice president and chief operating officer of SSM Health Care in St. Louis, was awarded the 2006 "Distinguished
Service Award."
