Board Of Pharmacy Issues Class J Emergency Rule Guidance

Recently, MHA informed hospitals of an emergency rule promulgated by the Board of Pharmacy regarding standards for Class J: Shared Services pharmacy licensure. The rule went into effect Aug. 6. Many hospitals in Missouri have a Class J license which allows dispensing of a prescription from one pharmacy to another. The Board of Pharmacy has released additional guidance on the rule, which can be found on their website. There are other changes regarding Class J pharmacies that are subject to normal rule review and processing. Those changes could take several months.

CMS Announces Dry Run Of Hospital Visits After Outpatient Surgery Measure

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has announced a dry run of the hospital visits after hospital outpatient surgery measure (OP-36) for hospital outpatient departments. The dry run is scheduled Friday, Sept. 1, through Saturday, Sept. 30. CMS will provide facilities with facility-specific reports for the measure during that time through the QualityNet Secure Portal, and encourages facilities to thoroughly review the FSRs. Details are available. CMS will conduct a national provider call at noon, Thursday, Sept. 14, to present an overview of the measure, provide guidance on interpretation of measure data and results, and provide an opportunity for facilities to ask questions.

Lake Regional Health System Names New CEO

Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach has named Dane W. Henry as CEO, effective Monday, Sept. 18. He will succeed Mike Henze, who is retiring after having served as CEO since 1990. Henry most recently served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at DeKalb Regional Healthcare System in Decatur, Ga., and as Executive Vice President of Operations for Northeast Georgia Medical Center and Health System in Gainesville. A list of CEO changes is available online.
