CMS Delays Expansion Of Bundled Payment Programs

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services released an interim final rule that delays the implementation date from Saturday, July 1, to Sunday, Oct. 1, for the Advancing Care Coordination Through Episode Payment Models, the Cardiac Rehabilitation Incentive Payment Model, and changes to the Comprehensive Care for Joint Replacement Model. The rule also delays the effective date of the final rule for a second time, from Tuesday, March 21, to Saturday, May 20.

HIDI Releases FFY 2016 Inpatient, Outpatient Physician Loyalty Report

The Hospital Industry Data Institute has posted the full federal fiscal year 2016 inpatient and outpatient physician loyalty report for subscribers to the Premier Reporting Package. This report displays a list of physicians by name and the frequency in which they were attending physicians across combinations of various categories, including inpatient/outpatient setting, hospital, patient ZIP code, DRG and payer. This data is delivered in a ready-to-query Microsoft Access database file and is located in the “Strategic Planning/Premier Reports” folder with the following file name.

Hospitals interested in subscribing to the 2017 HIDI Premier Data Package should review the package information. Current subscribers with questions about downloading files should contact HIDI.

GW Health Workforce Institute Unveils U.S. Health Workforce Report

The GW Health Workforce Institute has unveiled a report that synthesizes new findings on the U.S. health workforce from six research centers and a technical center funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration. Since 2013, the centers have conducted nearly 70 studies that shed light on how health workforce needs are adjusting to the rapidly changing health care landscape. The new report offers significant insight on three themes: understanding evolving health workforce roles and team configurations; spotlighting job growth and career paths in middle- and low-skilled health professions; and identifying workforce strategies to increase access to high-quality health care.
