CMS Releases Biweekly Marketplace Enrollment Snapshot

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services released a snapshot of marketplace enrollment for those who have signed up for health coverage on HealthCare.gov. Through Jan. 31, which was the last day of open enrollment, 9.2 million plan selections were made in states that use the HealthCare.gov platform. This year’s enrollment is markedly lower than last year’s enrollment of 12.7 million. In Missouri, open enrollment decreased 15.8 percent from 290,201 in 2016 to 244,382 in 2017.

OIRA Issues Guidance On “One-In, Two-Out” Executive Order

The Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs issued interim guidance about the recently signed executive order aimed at reducing regulatory burden. The guidance states that for fiscal year 2017, “ … the heads of all agencies are directed that the total incremental cost of all new regulations, including repealed regulations, to be finalized this year shall be no greater than zero,” and “ … any new incremental costs associated with new regulations shall, to the extent permitted by law, be offset by the elimination of existing costs associated with at least two prior regulations.” Comments about the interim guidance can be submitted to OIRA through Friday, Feb. 10.
