CMS Releases Marketplace Open Enrollment Data

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services announced that during the first two weeks of Healthcare.gov open enrollment, more than 1 million beneficiaries have signed up for federal marketplace coverage. According to CMS, 53,000 more plan selections were made during the first 12 days of open enrollment in 2016 than in 2015. CMS plans to continue releasing open enrollment statistics every two weeks. Open enrollment will continue until Jan. 31, 2017.

CMS Increases CY 2017 RHC Rate

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services released a change request that increases the rural health clinic upper payment limit for calendar year 2017. The CY 2017 upper payment limit for RHCs will increase from $81.32 to $82.30, or 1.2 percent, beginning Jan. 1, 2017.

OIG Announces Work Plan For 2017

The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services’ Office of Inspector General released the work plan for 2017. The plan will focus on hyperbaric services, inpatient psychiatric facility outlier payments, payments for services after an individual’s date of death, Medicare Part D rebates related to the 340B program, drug waste of single-use vial drugs and other priorities.

Management And Productivity Report Available

MHA member hospitals that submitted third quarter data for the “Management & Productivity Report” can access their completed reports online through a secure, password-protected website. Access to this report is limited to hospitals that participate in HIDI’s voluntary management and productivity program. The reports are located on HIDI Analytic Advantage® in the “Management & Productivity” folder under the “Finance and Policy” tab. Contacts from the participating hospitals have been notified by email. Staff may download and save the reports to a secure location on their networks or PCs. The data are encrypted on the site and also during the transmission from HIDI. Once the data have been transferred, they must be secured according to the hospital’s security procedures.

CMS Announces Availability Of Web-Based Data Collection Application

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has announced that the web-based data collection application via the QualityNet secure portal is now available for submission of second quarter 2016 perinatal care elective delivery measure (PC-01) data. The submission deadline for second quarter 2016 PC-01 data has been extended to Tuesday, Nov. 22.
