TJC Releases Specifications Manual

The Joint Commission’s national quality measures specifications manual version 2016B and release notes have been posted on TJC’s website. The manual is effective with discharges dated Jan. 1 through June 30, 2017. Key changes include the addition of the comprehensive stroke certification measure set and associated data elements.

CMS Provides Updated Tools And Tips For IPF Reporting

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has updated the hospital-based inpatient psychiatric services measure abstraction tool for HBIPS-2 and HBIPS-3 to clarify how to calculate values for the measures. The tool is an optional, informal abstraction mechanism designed to assist facilities in the collection of data for the Inpatient Psychiatric Facility Quality Reporting Program and is available on the Quality Reporting Center website. It will be posted to the IPFQR Program resources page on QualityNet at a later date.

CMS also has released a list of helpful tips to assist inpatient psychiatric facilities enter non-measure data/population counts data on the web-based data collection tool.
