MLN Connects Provider eNews Available

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services issues updates to MLN Connects Provider eNews. eNews includes information about national provider calls, meetings, events, announcements and other MLN educational product updates. The latest issue provides updates and summaries of the following.

  • modifications to Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System code set
  • hospice CAHPS® exemption for size deadline: Wednesday, Aug. 10
  • revised CMS-855R application: reassignment of Medicare benefits
  • July quarterly provider update available
  • skilled nursing facility quality reporting program call: Tuesday, July 12

CMS Releases OQR Specifications Manual

The Hospital Outpatient Quality Reporting Specifications Manual, Version 10.0, effective with encounter dates Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2017, is now available on QualityNet. A complete list of the changes is available in the release notes. Major changes include the following.

  • clarifying documentation of the OP-29 denominator exclusion because of a patient’s age
  • removing references to ICD-9 codes
  • clarifying data elements: Aspirin Received, Date Last Known Well, Electrocardiogram, Last Known Well, Reason for Not Administering Fibrinolytic Therapy, Time Last Known Well, and Transfer for Acute Coronary Intervention
  • revising the manual publication schedule to encompass a 12-month encounter period, beginning with version 10.0

TJC Offers eCQM Webinars

The Joint Commission has announced the “Pioneers in Quality: Expert to Expert” education series, which is designed to provide a comprehensive review of specific electronic quality measures. The schedule of webinars is as follows.

  • 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 12 — Venous Thromboembolism
  • 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20 — Stroke
  • 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8 — Perinatal Care

Advance registration is not required, but attendance is limited to the first 250 participants. Additional information is available on TJC’s website.
