Senate Approves FY 2016 Supplemental Appropriations Bill

Staff Contact: Rob Monsees

Monday the Senate approved House Bill 2014, which is the Fiscal Year 2016 Supplemental Appropriations bill, after finalizing the legislation in the Senate Appropriations Committee. Of particular note were reductions in:

  • pharmacy (reduced by $21 million)
  • physician services (reduced by $5.5 million)
  • hospital care (reduced $1.2 million)

More importantly, these reductions reflect more accurate information currently available to the Senate Appropriations Committee and an updated calculation regarding utilization in the current fiscal year. Because the FY 2017 budget uses the FY 2016 supplemental as the new baseline, these reductions were already reflected in the FY 2017 budget that has been sent to the budget conference committee.
