MHA Provides FFY 2016-2018 Medicare Pay-For-Performance Reference Guide

To help member hospitals prepare for the effects of future reimbursement changes to the Medicare pay-for-performance programs, MHA is providing a reference guide that includes program timeframes, weights, care minimums, benchmarks and the calculation methodology. Policy and analytic studies are available to download for authorized users of HIDI Analytic Advantage®. January MUR Available On HIDI Analytic Advantage®

Data for the January 2016 monthly utilization report have been posted on HIDI Analytic Advantage® and are available to download for distribution or placement in a network folder. HIDI Analytic Advantage® PLUS has been updated to include this data. The contacts from the participating hospitals have been notified by email, and they may download and save the Excel worksheet to a secure location on their networks or PCs. The data are encrypted on the site and also during the transmission from HIDI. Once transferred, the data must be secured according to the hospital’s security procedures. February 2016 data are being collected now and are scheduled to be available Tuesday, April 5.

CMS Updates OP-33 Flowchart

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has posted an updated version of the flowchart related to OP-33: External Beam Radiotherapy for Bone Metastases. The update, which includes the radicular pain ICD-10 codes within the denominator exclusions, is available on the Quality Reporting Center website.

NIH Publishes Article On Understanding Anxiety Disorders

The National Institutes of Health recently published the article, “Understanding Anxiety Disorders: When Panic, Fear, and Worries Overwhelm.” Anxiety disorders affect nearly 1 in 5 American adults each year. People with these disorders have feelings of fear and uncertainty that interfere with everyday activities. Anxiety disorders also can raise the risk for other medical problems, such as heart disease, diabetes, substance abuse and depression.
