Missouri Children's Trauma Network Offers Motivational Interviewing Training Program

The Missouri Children’s Trauma Network will offer a motivational interviewing training program designed to assist providers with informed care. Beginning in March, the program will be offered in six regions of the state to staff that have an interest in expanding and maintaining motivational interviewing skills within their practice or agency.

MHD Posts Draft 1115 Waiver For Mental Health Crisis Prevention Project

The MO HealthNet Division has posted a draft 1115 Waiver for the Mental Health Crisis Prevention Project and Public Notice located in the “Alerts & Notifications” section online. MHD intends to submit a written application to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to request approval of a Section 1115 Research and Demonstration Waiver.

CMS Publishes Medicare Fee-For-Service Provider And Supplier List

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services released two public datasets used to prevent fraud, waste and abuse; one on ground ambulance suppliers and the other on home health agencies. The datasets are in response to a recently published Federal Register notice, extending the temporary enrollment moratoria on new ground ambulance suppliers and home health agencies for an additional six months. CMS also has released the information through an interactive Web page.

AHRQ Releases Health Literacy Toolkit For Primary Care Practice

Only 12 percent of U.S. adults have the health literacy skills needed to manage the demands of a complex health care system. Their ability to absorb and use health information can be compromised by stress or illness. The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality’s Health Literacy Universal Precautions Toolkit can help primary care practices reduce the complexity of health care, increase patient understanding of health information and enhance support for patients of all health literacy levels. HRSA Announces Rural Telehealth Grants

The Health Resources and Services Administration is accepting applications through Friday, April 8, for fiscal year 2016 grants to support telehealth services for school-based health centers in rural, frontier and underserved communities. Hospitals may sponsor the health centers and be part of the telehealth networks. The Telehealth Network Grant Program anticipates awarding as many as 20 grants of up to $300,000 a year for four years. HRSA’s Federal Office of Rural Health Policy will review the funding opportunity during a Feb. 29 webinar. For more information, see the application guidance.

CMS Issues AHRQ PSI-90 Technical Updates

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has issued a technical update regarding the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality’s Patient Safety Indicator-90 Benchmark and Achievement Threshold (performance standards). The technical update revises the Fiscal Year 2014 Inpatient/Long-Term Care Hospital PPS final rule. CMS updated the FY 2018 performance standards for the PSI-90 measure because of the recent release of an AHRQ Quality Indicator software version update.
